Removal of Co-Payments for Medicaid and FAMIS Enrollees
Download PDFThe purpose of this memo is to inform providers that, as of April 1, 2022, the Department of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS) and its managed care organizations (MCOs) removed co-payments for Medicaid and FAMIS enrollees, in accordance with Item 304.FFFF of the 2022 Virginia Appropriations Act. As a result, co-pays will not resume after the end of the Federal Public Health Emergency. DMAS will update the following provider manuals to reflect the elimination of co-payments as described in this memo.

Managed Care Programs Medallion 4.0, Commonwealth Coordinated Care Plus (CCC Plus), and Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE). In order to be reimbursed for services provided to a managed care enrolled individual, providers must follow their respective contract with the managed care plan/PACE provider. The managed care plan may utilize different guidelines than those described for Medicaid fee-for-service individuals. |
